Thanks Peter! :D Well as the accounts increase, free time goes down. The only reason i would suggest G+ its for the easy way to discover news from people who are really "into the things". including pages and communities that are analyzing and sharing valuable information you never thinked of.

Way better from Facebook, since Facebook is mostly for young ages, spamming and entertainment. G+ has other topics too but i havent seen the phenomenon of any "kids fighting online" or whatever could waste your time or patience.

Now if someone wants to use it for more sophisticated reasons e.g. business, marketing and all these things then its "a must need". It belongs in social media. Google ranks pages today not only with "page rank" but also with "author rank". Obviously in this ranking they count the presence of authors on G+, the use of their social sites and services - including webmaster tools, youtube, interaction with people, +1s and all these, people who own websites-blogs are verified for writing and publishing online content and this is "a game" that actually someone has to play with if he/she wants to have that "higher trust" to google's eyes. And on the internet Google is the judge. Of course there are alternatives but Google leads the game. The best solution though is to use all the available tools so each targeting campaign has to focus also on Yahoo, Bing etc.

The biggest part of this investment is to give a good idea to google about you and your online value. Of course after this, other profiles and other pages are coming too that are all connected to each other. And on the end specific monitoring and influence metric tools (similar to what Google uses) are measuring and counting your overall presence on the web. From there you monitor and you know what services are working for your niche, who are interested to you, on what things and you see your general efficiency how it works. Then its up to you to study them and become better or worse. Understanding some sensitive information can help a business to find the right clients, to sell more etc.

So basically its a daily "fight" to convince each and every day Google that you deserve more for their clients. And Google's best clients are the users who are making the simple and known "Google search".

Facebook from the other side comes back with the new Graph search and an example of web 3.0 technology which again has its role. For normal users will be another awesome or bad tool but for businesses will be another thing to consider when they want to rank high on the web. Facebook uses their indexing and ranking ways too so there its another fight to give. Long story.. :)

Conclusion: If you want to keep your normal and nice life dont get into these. You don't need them! Now if you dont feel its a waste of time, if its in your nature to read and learn more things, then you can create an account and follow some interesting brands and people. It would be awesome for the weekends or evenings after work to find from programming topics to recipes and movies. Especially if you involve into the communities! [link]
